Job Summary

Hotjobs Africa seeks a results-driven Production Shift Engineer (Plastic Molding) to oversee and optimize manufacturing operations during assigned shifts. The successful candidate will ensure efficient production processes, maintain quality standards, and lead teams to achieve operational targets in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all plastic molding operations during assigned shifts
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved
• Set up, monitor, and optimize plastic molding machines and related production processes
• Identify and resolve machine, mold, and process-related issues to minimize downtime
• Conduct routine inspections of machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment
• Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
• Monitor raw material usage and implement strategies to reduce waste and rework
• Lead, guide, and motivate machine operators and shift technicians to enhance productivity
• Maintain accurate and timely shift reports on production output, downtime, defects, and incidents
• Collaborate with maintenance, quality control, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless operations
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and enforce 5S practices within the production area

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hold an HND or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrate a minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in plastic molding or manufacturing operations
• Possess hands-on experience in injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion processes (advantageous)
• Exhibit strong knowledge of production processes, machine operations, and quality control principles
• Understand safety regulations and manufacturing best practices
• Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in operational settings
• Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and effectively manage shift-based operations
• Show strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Communicate clearly and produce accurate operational reports
• Use basic computer applications, including MS Excel and production reporting tools
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
