Position Summary
The Psychology Teacher (IGCSE & A Level) will deliver engaging and effective Psychology lessons to secondary and sixth form students following the Cambridge International Curriculum. The successful candidate will develop students’ understanding of human behaviour, psychological theories, cognitive processes, and research methods while building critical thinking, analytical skills, and scientific inquiry required for Cambridge assessments and future academic success.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Psychology lessons aligned with the Cambridge International IGCSE and A Level curriculum.
- Teach key areas of Psychology, including cognitive, biological, social, learning, developmental, and abnormal psychology.
- Prepare students for Cambridge examinations through effective teaching strategies, assessments, revision sessions, and targeted academic support.
- Design lessons that encourage critical thinking, evaluation, analysis, and the practical application of psychological concepts.
- Use diverse teaching methods, resources, and learning approaches to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles.
- Integrate contemporary psychological research, case studies, and real-world examples to enhance student understanding.
Student Development and Assessment
- Create an inclusive, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes active participation and academic growth.
- Assess student performance, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to improve learning outcomes.
- Develop students’ research, observation, analytical reasoning, essay-writing, and communication skills.
- Encourage students to explore psychological concepts through inquiry-based learning and independent research.
- Support students in developing confidence and preparing effectively for higher education pathways.
Collaboration and Enrichment
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and academic excellence.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental planning, and school improvement initiatives.
- Lead or support Psychology-related enrichment activities, academic competitions, student clubs, and research projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in Psychology education and Cambridge assessment requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience teaching the Cambridge International Curriculum (IGCSE & A Level) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Psychology concepts, theories, and research methods.
- Experience preparing students for Cambridge examinations is an advantage.
