Role Purpose

The Senior Production Engineer leads and supervises underground mining operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and productive extraction processes. The role provides technical expertise, implements best practices, and drives operational performance while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Mine Production and Operational Oversight

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise underground mining operations to meet production targets efficiently and safely.

• Monitor production metrics and recommend improvements to optimize performance.

• Implement mining schedules, workflows, and resource allocations in alignment with operational plans.

Technical and Safety Management

• Apply engineering principles to solve complex underground mining challenges.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in blasting, ventilation, and other underground operations.

• Hold and maintain relevant blasting and mine supervisor certifications to oversee high-risk operations.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead, mentor, and develop production teams to promote safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with geologists, planners, and other technical personnel to ensure coordinated and effective mine operations.

• Maintain effective communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

• Prepare accurate production reports and operational documentation.

• Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.

• Recommend and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• BSc or Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related field.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 3–5 years post-qualification experience, with at least three years in underground mining operations.

• Demonstrated experience in supervising mining teams and managing production targets.

• Possession of blasting and mine supervisor certificates is mandatory.

• Strong technical knowledge of underground mining operations.

• Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
