Role Overview

The Software Developer designs, builds, and maintains robust health information systems and integrations. The role requires strong full-stack development expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to leverage modern AI-powered tools to enhance productivity and code quality. The successful candidate will contribute to impactful national health technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end APIs and system integrations for health information platforms.
• Build and maintain full-stack web applications using Python, Node.js, and Elixir/Phoenix.
• Design and optimize relational databases using PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications and operational guides.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to enhance development workflows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government health agencies and partner institutions.
• Participate in code reviews, system architecture discussions, and user acceptance testing (UAT) planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system integration and performance issues in production environments.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Programming & Database

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python.
• Strong experience with Node.js for API development and performance optimization.
• Experience with Elixir/Phoenix is an advantage.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and stored procedures.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and indexing.

Tools & Mindset

• Demonstrated experience using AI-powered development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to apply AI tools effectively in development workflows.
• Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD practices is an advantage.

Education & Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional software development experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
• Experience with Git/GitHub or similar version control systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare IT standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR) or government systems is a strong advantage.
