This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to world-class mining projects while leading multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic and safety-focused environment.
Your Responsibilities
As Superintendent Construction (Electrical), you will:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction activities across major mining projects.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and integration of electrical infrastructure for underground mining operations and processing facilities.
- Ensure construction activities comply with engineering specifications, project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage contractors, EPCM consultants, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives within approved budgets and schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout project design, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and facilitate effective collaboration between engineering, operations, maintenance, and project personnel.
- Review electrical designs, technical documentation, and construction methodologies to ensure quality and compliance.
- Prepare project reports, performance updates, and technical documentation for management and key stakeholders.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Newmont’s health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance, efficiency, and operational reliability.
What Will Make You Successful?
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Additional Knowledge
- Strong expertise in project management, construction management, and engineering study management.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and support functions.
- Proficiency in data analysis, technical reporting, and project performance monitoring.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience within the mining industry, including operations and major capital projects.
- At least five (5) years of experience working with an international Tier 1 mining organization.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading the construction of electrical infrastructure for underground mining operations.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in the design of underground mine electrical infrastructure.
- Successful leadership of at least two (2) electrical infrastructure installation projects supporting mill processing facilities.
- Successful leadership of at least two (2) electrical design projects for mill processing facilities.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience managing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) consultants.
