We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused professional to join our team as Supervisor, Quarry and Road Crew at the Ahafo North Mine Site.

Position Purpose

The Supervisor, Quarry and Road Crew will provide frontline leadership for quarry and road maintenance activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational standards. The role is responsible for coordinating personnel, managing daily work plans, maintaining safe working conditions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across quarry and road operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate daily quarry and road crew activities to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Monitor operational performance and ensure work activities align with approved plans, schedules, and production objectives.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work areas, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure operational readiness.
  • Support the planning and execution of road construction, maintenance, quarry development, and related site activities.

Safety, Risk and Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety verifications, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure adherence to Fatal Risk Management (FRM) standards and safe work practices.
  • Support the continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental performance within the work area.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to crew members.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure team members understand work priorities, responsibilities, and safety expectations.
  • Support employee development through on-the-job training, guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the workforce.

Planning and Administration

  • Review and manage weekly work plans and operational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to operational and safety activities.
  • Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize company systems and technology platforms to support operational planning and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of work programs.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve work methods, operational processes, and productivity.
  • Apply practical problem-solving techniques to address operational challenges.
  • Support initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, safety performance, and employee engagement.
  • Contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives through proactive leadership and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minerals Commission (Ghana) MINCOM Mine Foreman Certification (required).
  • Minerals Commission (Ghana) MINCOM Mine Captain Certification will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s Licence.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience within a mining, quarrying, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 3–6 years of supervisory experience leading operational teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of working safely within high-risk operational environments.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments, safety verifications, and incident investigations.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing employees with diverse skills and backgrounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk management, and incident investigation processes.
  • Knowledge of mining, quarry, road construction, and maintenance operations.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize SAP Work Management Systems.
  • Ability to learn and apply Fatal Risk Management (FRM) safety systems and processes.
  • Understanding of site standards, regulatory requirements, and safe work procedures.

  • High level of self-awareness and ability to adapt leadership approaches to achieve positive outcomes.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based at Newmont’s Ahafo North Mine Site.
  • The role involves working within an active mining and quarrying environment and requires strict adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
