Position Purpose
The Territory Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for a designated territory, ensuring the achievement of sales targets, operational excellence, customer service standards, regulatory compliance, and profitability objectives across multiple retail fuel stations.
The role is responsible for leading Station Managers and retail teams, driving business growth, strengthening customer relationships, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring that all stations within the territory operate efficiently and profitably. The successful candidate will act as a key representative of Petrosol, building strong relationships with stakeholders while delivering exceptional business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and People Management
- Champion Petrosol’s core values and serve as a role model for employees across the territory.
- Lead, motivate, and develop Station Managers and station teams to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
- Identify employee strengths, performance gaps, and development opportunities, implementing coaching and performance improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular coaching and mentoring sessions with Station Managers and retail teams.
- Promote accountability, discipline, teamwork, and a high-performance culture.
- Support succession planning and capability development across the territory.
- Collaborate with Human Resources in performance management, disciplinary processes, and employee engagement initiatives.
Sales Growth and Business Development
- Drive territory sales performance and achieve established revenue and volume targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within station trade areas.
- Support Station Managers in prospecting and converting new commercial and retail customers.
- Implement promotional initiatives and sales strategies to increase fuel and lubricant sales.
- Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions to maximize market share and profitability.
- Lead the implementation of customer acquisition and retention initiatives.
Customer Experience and Service Quality
- Drive the implementation of Petrosol’s Customer Journey framework across all stations.
- Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer service standards.
- Conduct regular service quality assessments and customer experience reviews.
- Identify service gaps and implement corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.
- Monitor forecourt operations to ensure adherence to customer service standards and operational procedures.
Retail Operations Management
- Provide oversight for daily station operations to ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.
- Conduct regular station visits and operational audits.
- Ensure proper implementation of station operating procedures, controls, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor station performance and support continuous operational improvement initiatives.
- Ensure shift handover procedures are properly executed and documented.
Fuel Management and Inventory Control
- Monitor fuel and lubricant inventory levels and ensure accurate stock management.
- Conduct throughput analysis and verify stock accountability during station visits.
- Ensure all fuel deliveries and discharge processes comply with approved standard operating procedures.
- Verify pump calibration and delivery accuracy in accordance with company standards.
- Promote and enforce Petrosol’s Full Quantity value proposition across all stations.
Financial Performance and Profitability
- Manage the territory as a strategic business unit with accountability for financial performance.
- Monitor operational expenses to ensure adherence to approved budgets and cost controls.
- Review station expenditures and implement measures to improve cost efficiency.
- Drive profitability through effective sales growth, expense management, and operational discipline.
- Analyze business performance data and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
Accounts Receivable and Credit Management
- Monitor station and customer credit accounts to ensure compliance with approved credit terms.
- Follow up on outstanding debts and ensure timely collection of receivables.
- Review debtor balances regularly and implement actions to mitigate credit risks.
- Support the maintenance of healthy cash flow and financial discipline across the territory.
Regulatory Compliance, HSSEQ and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements governing retail fuel operations.
- Coordinate permit renewals and maintain up-to-date regulatory documentation.
- Support stations in achieving and maintaining satisfactory inspection ratings from regulatory authorities.
- Promote Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) standards across all locations.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, operational controls, and risk management practices.
Stakeholder Engagement and Territory Administration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, regulators, local authorities, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Represent Petrosol professionally within the assigned territory.
- Provide administrative leadership and ensure effective communication across all stations.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports on territory performance, operational issues, and business opportunities.
- Escalate critical issues and provide recommendations for resolution to senior management.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Prepare periodic sales, operational, financial, and performance reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform business decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Sales Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Station Manager within the petroleum downstream industry.
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in a Territory Management role under a direct management model will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated success in sales management, business development, and retail operations management.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven ability to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and profitability.

- Excellent knowledge of fuel station operations and retail management.
- Strong understanding of downstream petroleum industry operations.

- Willingness to relocate to any region within Ghana based on business needs.
