Job Summary
UNDP seeks an experienced and dedicated UN Health Manager to lead and coordinate occupational and clinical health services in support of personnel well-being and operational readiness. The successful candidate will provide medical leadership, ensure high-quality healthcare delivery, and manage health systems, emergency response, and client support services in line with UN standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and deliver high-quality medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and emergency response
- Manage occupational health services and ensure compliance with UN medical standards and protocols
- Oversee medical record systems and ensure accurate documentation and reporting (e.g., EarthMed or equivalent systems)
- Lead emergency response activities, including triage, stabilization, and coordination of medical evacuations
- Manage mass casualty preparedness and response planning where required
- Supervise medical teams and support staff, ensuring effective performance and service delivery
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational planning for health services
- Strengthen client relationship management and ensure responsive health service delivery
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including field operations and international partners
- Ensure adherence to infection control, occupational safety, and clinical governance standards
- Provide health education, preventive care, and wellness support initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Advanced University Degree in Medicine from an accredited institution and valid license to practice in the home country or jurisdiction
OR - First-level university degree in Medicine with at least 2 additional years of relevant experience (in lieu of advanced degree)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible clinical experience (with advanced degree) or 7 years (with first degree)
- Completed residency or internship in internal medicine, family medicine, or a related specialty
- At least 2 years of managerial experience in a medical setting, including budgeting, supervision, and resource management
- Experience working with international organizations and/or field deployments
- Proven ability to manage acute emergencies, triage, and patient stabilization
- Experience in occupational health is highly desirable
- Experience in mass casualty management and medical evacuation coordination is an advantage
- Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is required
- Certification in HIV care or VCCT is an advantage
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EarthMed)
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability in client relationship management and health service delivery
Languages
- Fluency in English is required
