Role Overview

The Vice President, Investment Banking will drive business growth by originating and executing advisory and capital market transactions across the region. This role requires a strategic leader with strong client relationships, deep market insight, and the ability to deliver high-impact financial solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

• Identify and originate new advisory and capital markets opportunities across existing and prospective clients
• Build and maintain a strong deal pipeline by collaborating closely with Coverage Teams
• Drive revenue growth through innovative and client-focused financial solutions

Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, sponsors, and key stakeholders, including government entities and regulators
• Foster effective internal collaboration, particularly with Coverage Managers and cross-functional teams
• Represent the bank with professionalism and credibility in all client engagements

Process and Reporting

• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and group standards
• Oversee the accuracy and timely submission of financial reports, statements, and regulatory returns
• Collaborate with Finance Business Partners to prepare reporting and financial documentation

People Management and Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Advisory and Capital Markets team across the region
• Build team capability through coaching, training, and performance management
• Drive a high-performance culture through clear goal setting, regular appraisals, and accountability
• Motivate teams to achieve sustainable profitability and business objectives

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in investment banking or a related client-facing role
• Proven track record in originating and executing advisory and capital market transactions
• Strong understanding of African financial markets and industry dynamics
• Solid knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment
• Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with senior-level stakeholders
• Fluency in English and French (written and spoken)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
