Job Purpose
The Head, Local Corporate (LOC) will lead the development and execution of the local corporate banking strategy within Consumer & Commercial Banking. The role is responsible for driving profitable growth, managing strategic client relationships, optimizing portfolio performance, and delivering innovative financial solutions to medium and large domestic companies across key industries.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure strong risk management practices, and foster a customer-centric culture while contributing to the overall growth and competitiveness of the bank.
Key Responsibilities
Business and Financial Performance
- Formulate and implement the local corporate banking strategy aligned with Consumer & Commercial Banking objectives.
- Identify, acquire, and retain medium and large corporate clients across various sectors to grow loans, deposits, trade finance, and fee income.
- Develop customized financial solutions including working capital facilities, term loans, trade services, cash management, foreign exchange, and treasury products.
- Lead credit origination, transaction structuring, negotiation, and documentation for corporate lending transactions.
- Conduct rigorous credit analysis and risk assessments while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage portfolio profitability and optimize risk-adjusted returns through effective portfolio management strategies.
Customer Excellence
- Build and lead a high-performing team of relationship managers, credit analysts, and product specialists.
- Strengthen relationships with C-suite executives, board members, and key decision-makers to understand client objectives and provide strategic financial advisory support.
- Drive cross-selling opportunities across digital banking, payroll, insurance, investment banking, asset management, and treasury solutions.
- Collaborate with product, treasury, and trade finance teams to deliver competitive pricing and tailored client solutions.
- Develop sector-specific expertise to identify market opportunities, anticipate trends, and mitigate industry risks.
- Ensure timely resolution of client issues, service requests, and credit approvals to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
Leadership and People Management
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer-centricity within the team.
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Lead strategic account planning, pipeline management, and business development initiatives.
- Advocate for clients internally and coordinate cross-functional resources to deliver integrated banking solutions.
- Represent the bank at industry events, business forums, and conferences to strengthen brand visibility and thought leadership.
Process, Control, and Operational Performance
- Oversee onboarding processes, KYC/AML compliance, and client documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance, covenant compliance, and early warning indicators to maintain strong asset quality.
- Collaborate with risk management, legal, compliance, and operations teams to ensure seamless transaction execution.
- Monitor market trends, economic developments, tax laws, and competitor strategies to adapt product offerings and pricing strategies effectively.
- Drive the adoption of digital banking channels, cashless payment solutions, and automation initiatives within the unit.
- Promote ESG, sustainability, and responsible banking practices among corporate clients.
- Prepare and present portfolio performance reports, risk metrics, and strategic updates to affiliate and regional management.

Job Profile
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certification such as CFA, ACCA, ACIB, ICA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10–12 years’ experience in corporate banking with strong exposure to credit structuring and relationship management.
- Proven track record in originating and executing complex corporate lending transactions.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, treasury products, trade finance, and cash management solutions.
- Sound knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams, budgets, and profit & loss portfolios.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, industry trends, and macroeconomic indicators.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
