Your Impact

You will operate drilling equipment safely and efficiently to drill into in-situ rock mass or boulders, preparing them for blasting. You will play a critical role in achieving production targets while maintaining strict safety and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities

Drilling Operations (Pre-Shift & On-Shift)

  • Attend all pre-shift briefings and follow instructions from the Drill Supervisor.

  • Review and execute daily drill plans effectively.

  • Conduct pre-start inspections and per-operational checks on drilling equipment.

  • Monitor machine performance, consumables, and operational conditions continuously.

  • Position and maneuver drills accurately using systems such as Jigsaw or Minestar.

  • Coordinate drill start/stop activities with team members onsite.

Pre-Split Drilling (Pantera DP1500i)

  • Interpret and execute detailed drill plans using high-precision GPS systems.

  • Set accurate drilling angles using inclinometers.

  • Maintain strict wall control through precise drilling patterns.

  • Ensure high drilling accuracy to minimize operational costs.

  • Report inclinometer or system issues promptly.

  • Provide accurate drilling data to Dispatch.

Production Drilling (DTH)

  • Execute drilling activities using high-precision GPS guidance.

  • Prepare and collar drill holes properly.

  • Drill to required depths and monitor deviations.

  • Adjust drilling operations to correct alignment issues.

  • Manage and optimize drill consumables to extend lifespan.

  • Report GPS or operational issues to Dispatch.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Adjust air pressure, rotary speed, and thrust based on rock conditions.

  • Perform consumable change-outs and routine maintenance.

  • Inspect, lubricate, and replace components as required.

  • Maintain equipment in optimal working condition.

Safety, Performance & Teamwork

  • Achieve or exceed production and drill meter targets.

  • Maintain high-quality work standards under supervision.

  • Conduct post-drilling clean-up activities.

  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately.

  • Supervise Drill Helpers and ensure adherence to protocols.

  • Support training and development of team members.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Senior High School Certificate.

Certifications & Knowledge

  • MINCOM Equipment Competency Certification.

  • Valid License E (Drill Operation).

  • Strong understanding of drilling equipment and mechanical systems.

  • Basic knowledge of mining operations and heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with equipment controls and electronics.


Experience

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of drilling and off-siding experience in an open pit mine or quarry environment.
