Job Summary

The University invites applications from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Director of Finance. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the University’s financial operations, ensuring strong financial management systems, compliance, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Finance will:

• Lead the general administration of all financial and accounting operations of the University
• Initiate, develop, and implement effective accounting systems, policies, and procedures
• Manage and control special advances and imprest systems
• Oversee all accounts receivable and payable, both locally and internationally
• Supervise revenue collection processes and implement measures to prevent fraud, embezzlement, and financial irregularities
• Direct and coordinate the activities of all units within the Directorate of Finance
• Maintain custody and integrity of all accounting records and financial documents

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicants must:

• Hold a postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Audit
• Be a member in good standing of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Have a minimum of ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience as a professional accountant
• Have served as a Deputy Director of Finance in a university setting
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of university financial administration and governance

Tenure of Office

The appointment is for an initial term of four (4) years. The University may renew the appointment for a further term of up to three (3) years, subject to statutory retirement regulations.
