Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled emergency response professional who will respond to mine incidents, support rescue operations, and ensure readiness of rescue systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical competence, physical endurance, and the ability to perform effectively under high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mine Rescue Brigades Man, you will:

• Respond promptly to underground and surface emergencies, including fires, gas incidents, and structural failures.
• Plan and execute mine rescue operations using approved equipment and safety procedures.
• Inspect, maintain, and ensure readiness of rescue equipment, breathing apparatus, and communication systems.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of emergency response plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with operational and safety teams to identify hazards and implement preventive controls.
• Conduct and participate in emergency drills, rescue simulations, and preparedness exercises.
• Train and mentor mine personnel on emergency response procedures and hazard identification.
• Document drills, incidents, and rescue operations accurately and maintain required records.
• Participate in incident investigations and post-incident reviews to improve response effectiveness.
• Maintain required physical fitness and technical competence for rescue operations.
• Ensure full compliance with company HSE standards and promote continuous safety improvement.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Requirements

• Professional certification in Mine Rescue, Advanced First Aid, Paramedicine, or a related emergency response discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in mine rescue operations.
• Valid Minerals Commission Certificate of Competency.
• Valid Ghanaian Class B or Class C Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated ability to operate, inspect, and maintain mine rescue equipment.
• Strong understanding of underground ventilation systems, gas detection, and risk control measures.
• Proven ability to conduct emergency drills and hazard identification exercises.
