Position Summary

The Auto Electrician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems on underground mobile equipment. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety compliance, and operational efficiency through proactive maintenance and timely fault resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with all safety, mining, and statutory regulations at the workplace.
• Adhere strictly to site safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on underground mobile equipment in line with established standards.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults on mobile equipment using company work management systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams to trace and fix faults accurately.
• Report equipment defects and breakdowns promptly, providing detailed feedback to supervisors and team members.
• Address issues identified in pre-start, inspection, and breakdown reports to maintain equipment availability and cost efficiency.
• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and implement safety controls including LOTOTO (Lock-Out, Try-Out, Tag-Out), working at heights, and confined space procedures before starting tasks.
• Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures when required.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area.
• Contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Report incidents, accidents, near misses, and emergency situations immediately to supervisors.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Education, Experience & Key Competencies

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Automotive Engineering or a related technical field.
• Technician II or III certification is an advantage.
• Relevant trade certification in Auto Electrical disciplines is required.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mining mobile maintenance environment.
• Practical experience with underground mobile equipment is highly preferred.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations in mining operations.
• Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and electrical schematics.
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical systems.
• Ability to estimate labor, materials, and resources required for maintenance tasks.
