Role Overview
The Reliability Engineer – Mobile Maintenance drives equipment reliability and performance across the mobile fleet. This role applies data-driven maintenance strategies, condition monitoring techniques, and reliability-centered practices to reduce downtime, optimize asset life, and improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement reliability strategies for mobile equipment to improve availability and performance.
- Analyze maintenance data, including MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Apply condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography to detect early equipment issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to optimize maintenance schedules and practices.
- Utilize CMMS systems to track asset performance, maintenance history, and reliability metrics.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs.
- Provide technical guidance on equipment design, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle management.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to support data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably within the mining industry.
- Certificate of Competency from the Mines Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission is desirable.
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong knowledge of condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis and thermography.
- Solid understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and equipment design principles.
- Demonstrated experience in downtime analysis using MTBF and MTTR metrics.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team with a strong safety mindset.
