Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Group Head of Finance to lead the Group’s financial function. You will drive financial strategy, oversee reporting and compliance, and provide critical insights to support executive decision-making. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and operational excellence within a complex, multi-entity financial services environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts aligned with organizational objectives
- Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, including financial statements, management reports, board reports, and regulatory filings
- Manage Group balance sheet performance against defined KPIs
- Collaborate with the Group Treasurer to optimize treasury operations, including cash flow, liquidity, capital structure, and debt management
- Lead budgeting processes, financial planning, and risk assessments
- Monitor financial performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement optimization strategies
- Establish and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks to ensure compliance and safeguard assets
- Provide strategic financial insights to support executive leadership and Board decision-making
- Evaluate investment opportunities, business initiatives, and associated financial risks
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, investors, auditors, and regulators
- Optimize working capital and oversee banking and financing strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting with strong analytical insights
- Adherence to budgeting cycles and financial planning processes
- Strength and effectiveness of internal controls and governance frameworks
- Budget performance, cost optimization, and positive financial variances
- Tax efficiency and savings
- Effectiveness of financial and capital risk management (liquidity, debt levels, credit ratings)
- Compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
Role Complexity
- Balance strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational execution
- Manage financial risks while ensuring regulatory compliance and reporting accuracy
- Operate effectively in a matrix and multi-entity environment
- Engage diverse stakeholders across different markets, cultures, and organizational levels
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in finance within the financial services industry
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role
- Proven experience in Group financial reporting and consolidations
- Strong knowledge of financial risk management, governance, and internal controls
- Deep understanding of international accounting standards
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex financial and operational challenges
- Strong knowledge of capital and treasury management
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership capability with experience building and managing high-performing teams
- Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills
- Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including at executive and board level
- Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and group consolidations
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and ethical standards
- Proficiency in financial systems and accounting software
- Resilience and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix reporting structure
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or ACA) is required
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage
