Role Overview

The Maintenance, Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor leads the maintenance and reliability of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within the terminal. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and enforces strict safety and compliance standards in a high-risk petroleum environment. The successful candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership capability to drive operational efficiency and team performance.


Key Responsibilities

Equipment Reliability

  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and lifecycle to ensure optimal reliability.

Downtime Reduction

  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize equipment failures and reduce operational downtime.
  • Lead rapid response efforts to restore systems efficiently after breakdowns.

Energy Management

  • Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Electrical Systems Maintenance

  • Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance of switchboards, transformers, motors, and power distribution systems.
  • Ensure all electrical systems comply with safety and regulatory standards.

Instrumentation & Control

  • Supervise calibration, installation, and maintenance of PLCs, sensors, flow meters, and control systems.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records and ensure system integrity.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain and implement emergency response plans related to electrical and instrumentation failures.
  • Train team members on emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of technicians.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Prepare detailed maintenance reports and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Use data insights to drive improvements in system reliability and operational efficiency.

Inventory Management

  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of critical components to support maintenance activities.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience in oil & gas or bulk petroleum storage operations is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, automation, PLCs, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency response in petroleum environments.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to perform technical maintenance tasks when required.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High level of self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
