Role Overview

The Unit Manager – Procurement & Logistics leads and optimizes procurement, contract management, warehouse, and logistics operations. The role ensures cost efficiency, supply reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness in support of mining activities.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Contract Support

  • Implement procurement strategies that drive cost efficiency, quality, and reliable supply.
  • Coordinate tender processes and support supplier and contractor negotiations in line with approved policies.
  • Monitor supplier and contractor performance against agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and address deviations.
  • Manage contract administration, including tracking expiries, renewals, and compliance with key obligations.
  • Identify commercial and contractual risks and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract documentation for reporting and audit purposes.

Warehouse, Inventory & Logistics

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and issuance of materials.
  • Implement effective stock control measures to minimize waste, shortages, and excess inventory.
  • Coordinate logistics activities to ensure timely delivery and alignment with production schedules.
  • Enforce safety, environmental, and material handling standards within warehouse operations.
  • Lead periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and Ghanaian mining regulations, including local content requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by maintaining transparent and accurate documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in procurement and logistics, preferably within mining or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, tender management, supplier engagement, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong background in warehouse and inventory management, with exposure to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Delta ERP) and contract lifecycle management tools.
  • Experience in cost control, budgeting, and commercial analysis.
  • Sound understanding of Ghanaian mining regulations and local content requirements (e.g., GIAMA).
  • Practical experience in logistics coordination, inventory optimization, and warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance standards for storage and material handling.
