Position Summary

The Lecturer in Home Economics will contribute to the College’s academic mission by delivering high-quality instruction, advancing research, mentoring students, and participating in institutional service. The successful candidate will help prepare future educators with strong practical, theoretical, and pedagogical competencies in Home Economics, including food and nutrition, catering, clothing, and textiles.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective teaching in Home Economics and related subject areas.
• Develop course outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
• Prepare, administer, and mark assignments, examinations, and other academic assessments.
• Supervise student research projects and teaching practice placements.
• Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students.
• Conduct research and publish scholarly work in reputable academic journals.
• Participate in curriculum development, review, and quality assurance processes.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional administrative responsibilities.
• Support community outreach, extension services, and applied learning initiatives.
• Participate in academic committees, workshops, seminars, and professional development programmes.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or an authorized representative.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

• A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Home Economics or a closely related field.
• A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Home Economics.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics.
  • Applicants with specialization in Catering, Food and Nutrition, or Clothing and Textiles will have an added advantage.
• A Teacher Education Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), which is compulsory.
• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or other recognized educational institution.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, research, and student development.
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of Home Economics disciplines.

Note: Applicants currently pursuing a PhD programme may also be considered.
