Position Summary

The Lecturer in Biology will contribute to the College’s academic mission by delivering high-quality instruction, advancing research, mentoring students, and participating in institutional service. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing future educators with strong scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills, and effective teaching competencies in Biology.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective teaching in Biology and related subject areas.
• Develop course outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
• Prepare, administer, and mark assignments, examinations, and other academic assessments.
• Supervise student research projects and teaching practice placements.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship, and guidance to students.
• Conduct research and publish scholarly work in reputable academic journals.
• Participate in curriculum development, review, and quality assurance processes.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional administrative responsibilities.
• Support community outreach and extension service activities of the College.
• Participate in academic committees, seminars, conferences, and professional development programmes.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or an authorized representative.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

• A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biology from a recognized institution.
• A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Biology.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.
• A Teacher Education Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), which is compulsory.
• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or other recognized educational institution.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, research, and academic development.
• Strong analytical, communication, and scientific writing skills.

Note: Applicants currently pursuing a PhD programme may also be considered.
