Position Summary
Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to lead the hotel’s accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding the financial stability of the property, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and supporting strategic business decisions through sound financial management.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Lead and oversee the hotel’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
- Safeguard the financial integrity of the property and minimize exposure to operational and financial risks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to support management decision-making.
Payroll and Compliance
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll in compliance with Ghana Labour Law and company policies.
- Maintain strong internal controls across all accounting functions and financial processes.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial governance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and PCI DSS standards where applicable.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop accounting team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Assign and monitor daily accounting tasks to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Ensure team members understand their responsibilities and comply with all accounting policies and procedures.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and employee development activities within the accounting function.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Operational Support and Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a key finance contact for department managers and provide financial guidance and support when required.
- Collaborate with operational teams to address financial queries and provide relevant reports and analysis.
- Maintain effective communication with the Assistant Controller regarding discrepancies, risks, and operational challenges.
- Support special projects and perform additional finance-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain working knowledge across all accounting functions and provide coverage when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience across diverse hotel accounting functions.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in an accounting management or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality accounting practices and financial controls.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, and tax compliance requirements.
- Experience with hospitality accounting systems is an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
