Position Summary
As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving occupational health and safety programs within the organization. You will identify workplace risks, recommend preventive measures, conduct safety inspections, and ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns, training sessions, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses and prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive recommendations.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Collaborate with department managers and employees to address safety concerns and improve workplace conditions.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to health, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System requirements.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Educational Requirements
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Qualification & Experience
- Minimum of 3–10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices.
- Practical understanding of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing risk management practices.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong reporting, documentation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
