The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, supporting compliance activities, and contributing to effective financial management across the organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, sound accounting knowledge, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Records Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
- Ensure all accounting transactions are properly recorded and supported by relevant documentation.
- Maintain organized filing systems for financial records and reports.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and issue invoices in a timely manner.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts regularly.
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements and related financial records.
- Monitor daily cash flow activities and report variances where necessary.
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and financial forecasting activities.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Generate management reports and provide financial information to support decision-making.
- Analyze financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
General Ledger & Account Reconciliation
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate posting of transactions.
- Perform periodic account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across accounting systems.
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Prepare statutory returns and support tax filing activities where applicable.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls.
Administrative Support
- Provide accounting and administrative support to management and other departments as required.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support the overall objectives of the Finance Department.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional Certification
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICA, or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards.
