Founded in 1924 by the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles, OLA College of Education was established to train female teachers and has grown into a leading institution known for academic excellence, leadership development, and character formation. The College continues to uphold its tradition of producing highly qualified educators who positively impact schools and communities across the country.

Affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, OLA College of Education offers Bachelor of Education programmes designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to excel in the teaching profession and contribute to national development.


Our History

Our Lady of Apostles College of Education was established in 1924, making it the first women’s teacher training institution in Ghana and one of the oldest teacher education institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The College began with a vision to increase access to education for girls and to train highly skilled female teachers who would support educational development throughout the country. Over the years, the institution has evolved through various educational reforms while maintaining its commitment to excellence, discipline, and service.
