We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Plant Operator to join our Process Operations team at Ahafo Mine.

Position Summary

The Plant Operator will operate, monitor, and optimize mineral processing plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving production targets by maintaining operational standards, monitoring plant performance, and complying with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

• Operate and monitor processing plant equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
• Monitor plant performance to ensure efficient and continuous production.
• Adjust operating parameters to optimize plant performance and product recovery.
• Support the achievement of production and operational targets.

Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance

• Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment and report defects promptly.
• Perform pre-start and operational checks to ensure equipment is functioning safely.
• Assist maintenance teams during planned shutdowns and equipment servicing.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and equipment records.

Process Control

• Monitor crushing, grinding, leaching, carbon-in-leach (CIL), elution, reagent systems, water treatment facilities, tailings operations, and related process areas.
• Identify process deviations and take appropriate corrective actions within operating guidelines.
• Ensure process stability while maintaining product quality and plant efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures at all times.
• Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and operational risks.
• Participate actively in safety meetings, training programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with supervisors, maintenance personnel, metallurgists, and fellow operators to ensure efficient plant operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and operational performance.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must possess:

• Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent qualification.
• A valid Driver’s Licence (Class B or E).
• A Mincom Process/Equipment Operations Certificate of Competence will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of operating experience in a gold processing plant.
• At least one (1) to two (2) years of experience in a process plant operating environment.

Additional Knowledge

• Competency in the following Metalliferous (City & Guilds) courses:
  • MNMPRD104A – Conduct Pump Operations
  • MNMPRD105A – Conduct Valve Operations
• Successful completion of additional Metalliferous (City & Guilds) courses will be an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of mineral processing plant equipment and operations.
• Practical understanding of:
  • Crushing operations
  • Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) and Ball Mill Grinding
  • Leach and Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) circuits
  • Elution processes
  • Reagent handling systems
  • Water treatment facilities
  • Tailings management operations
