About GrowthAfrica

GrowthAfrica is a leading African enterprise development organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of innovative entrepreneurs and small and growing businesses across the continent. Through entrepreneurship support, investment readiness, ecosystem development, and strategic partnerships, GrowthAfrica empowers businesses to create sustainable economic impact, generate employment, and drive inclusive growth.

Our work is guided by collaboration, innovation, evidence-based learning, and a commitment to delivering measurable development outcomes. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Coordinator to strengthen programme performance, learning, and data-driven decision-making across our multi-country portfolio.

Position Summary

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Coordinator will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the programme’s monitoring, evaluation, learning, and data management systems. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity, quality, analysis, and effective use of programme data while supporting evidence-based decision-making, donor reporting, and organizational learning across operations in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Rwanda.

Working closely with Programme Leads, technical specialists, and country teams, the Coordinator will build institutional capacity in monitoring and evaluation, strengthen reporting systems, and foster a culture of continuous learning and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, implement, and continuously strengthen the programme’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework, including logframes, indicator reference sheets, data collection protocols, reporting tools, and quality assurance processes, ensuring full alignment with donor requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve digital and paper-based data management systems that are reliable, accessible, and appropriate for programme teams operating across multiple countries with varying digital capacities.
  • Develop and manage programme reporting systems that enable the timely consolidation, analysis, and interpretation of programme performance data across all participating countries.
  • Build the capacity of Programme Leads, Associates, and technical specialists by delivering training and providing ongoing technical support on data collection methodologies, reporting standards, data quality, and the effective use of MEL tools.
  • Conduct routine data quality assessments, validation exercises, and verification visits across programme countries, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions to strengthen data integrity and compliance.
  • Lead programme learning processes by facilitating learning reviews, after-action reflections, evidence synthesis, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that translate lessons learned into continuous programme improvement.
  • Produce high-quality dashboards, data visualizations, analytical reports, and learning briefs that effectively communicate programme performance and support strategic decision-making by management and donors.
  • Coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual programme reports by consolidating country-level data, analysing trends, and developing compelling performance narratives.
  • Support external evaluations, donor reviews, audits, and organizational learning initiatives by coordinating documentation, facilitating evaluator access, and ensuring the availability of complete, accurate, and well-organized programme data.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of GrowthAfrica’s organizational monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems by documenting methodologies, developing tools, and sharing implementation lessons and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Research, or a related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Analytics, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of progressive professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning, impact measurement, programme performance management, or related functions within the development, entrepreneurship support, social enterprise, or similar sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing comprehensive MEL frameworks, including logframes, indicator frameworks, data collection systems, and reporting architectures for complex multi-country programmes.
  • Proven experience establishing and managing digital data management systems, with strong proficiency in KoBoToolbox, ODK, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar data collection and visualization platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, data quality assurance processes, and evidence-based programme management.
  • Experience delivering training and providing technical support to non-specialist staff on data collection, reporting, and quality assurance in geographically dispersed or resource-constrained environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to transform complex programme data into clear reports, compelling narratives, dashboards, and practical recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting donor reporting, programme reviews, and external evaluations, including preparing technical documentation and evidence for verification processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Working proficiency in French will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, planning, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake periodic travel across Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Rwanda.
