Location: Takoradi, Ghana

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to join our finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about accuracy, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

As an Accounts Officer, you will support the organization’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

You will play a key role in supporting sound financial management practices while contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Records & Accounting Operations

You will:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies where necessary.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and documented.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

You will:

  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements and financial reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and management activities.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist in maintaining healthy financial operations.

Revenue & Receivables Management

You will:

  • Ensure timely invoicing of customers and clients.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and support debt recovery processes.
  • Monitor receivables and provide regular status updates to management.
  • Assist in improving collections and cash management processes.

Compliance & Audit Support

You will:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
  • Prepare statutory returns and support tax filing activities where applicable.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls.

Administrative Support

You will:

  • Maintain organized accounting files and records.
  • Support finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

You should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Business Administration (Accounting Option)
    • Or a related field

Professional Certification

The following will be an added advantage:

  • ACCA
  • CIMA
  • CPA
  • ICA Ghana
  • Or an equivalent professional accounting qualification

Experience

You should have:

  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Practical experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable management.
  • Experience working with accounting software and financial management systems.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Outlook
  • Financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Budgeting and cash flow management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
