Job Summary
Reporting to management, the Camp Boss will oversee all camp services and ensure the efficient coordination of daily operations. The role requires effective supervision of teams, implementation of quality standards, compliance with food safety requirements, and continuous improvement of service delivery.
The Camp Boss will act as the key operational link between the company, client representatives, and onsite teams, ensuring smooth communication and a high level of client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
The Camp Boss will:
Camp Operations & Team Management
- Supervise and coordinate all camp services, including accommodation, catering, housekeeping, and laundry operations.
- Organize daily work schedules, manage team rosters, and ensure effective workforce planning.
- Ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements and adjust resources according to business needs.
- Lead, motivate, and support teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Participate actively in onsite coordination meetings with other departments and stakeholders.
Service Quality & Client Satisfaction
- Maintain effective communication with company representatives and clients to ensure satisfaction with services provided.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, and client feedback.
- Monitor service performance and implement improvements where necessary.
- Ensure all safety and security procedures are followed across camp operations.
- Enforce security procedures, including knife control and other site-specific safety requirements.
Food Safety & Quality Management
- Conduct monthly self-assessments on food safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Execute food safety testing activities as defined within the HACCP plan.
- Maintain, review, and update HACCP documentation while ensuring continuous food safety compliance.
- Lead all Quality Assurance (QA) and food/product safety initiatives.
- Implement quality management systems and evaluate their effectiveness through audits, controls, verification activities, and preventive measures.
- Maintain corrective action systems and coordinate improvement actions with management.
- Ensure HACCP records are accurate, complete, and compliant with corporate procedures.
- Drive the implementation of the company’s business management system.
- Lead investigations relating to product defects, alleged food poisoning incidents, and hard or soft foreign object findings.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and operational performance.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate monthly product requirement forecasts and communicate estimated needs to the Supply Chain team.
- Ensure accurate monthly inventory counts and effective management of production stock.
- Monitor stock availability and support efficient resource utilization.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Hospitality Management, Catering Management, or a related discipline.
- Over five (5) years of experience in camp management, hotel operations, hospitality, or catering management.
- Proven experience in quality management, food safety processes, and implementation of operational standards.
- Experience in auditing and compliance monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multicultural teams and challenging work environments.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in French will be considered an advantage.
