As part of our strategic growth and operational strengthening, we seek an experienced and results-driven Chief Mining Engineer to lead and oversee engineering activities within our mining operations.
Position Overview
The Chief Mining Engineer leads the planning, design, and implementation of mining operations. The successful candidate will oversee engineering teams, ensure safe and efficient extraction processes, and support strategic planning for both open pit and underground mining activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of mining engineering activities to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Oversee mine design, production planning, and operational strategies for open pit and underground operations.
Ensure compliance with mining regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Coordinate with operational teams to optimize drilling, blasting, ventilation, and material handling processes.
Provide technical leadership in rock mechanics, ground control, and underground construction activities.
Develop and review engineering documentation, operational plans, and technical reports.
Monitor mining performance and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency.
Support long-term strategic planning for mine development and expansion.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
A Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field will be an added advantage.
A minimum of ten years of experience in the mining industry, with at least three years in a management or leadership capacity.
Technical Competencies
Experience with open pit and underground mining operations.
Strong knowledge of rock mechanics and ground control.
Sound understanding of mine planning, ventilation systems, underground construction, pumping, and material handling.
Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting operations.
Skills and Experience
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Excellent technical expertise in mining engineering practices.
Ability to interpret complex operational data and develop effective engineering solutions.
Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
