Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Underground Shift Supervisor (Shift Boss) to lead underground mining operations. The successful candidate will actively supervise shift activities, ensure compliance with safety standards, and drive productivity in development operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all underground shift activities to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Manage development operations, including face management and advance rates
- Monitor and maintain effective ventilation circuits underground
- Lead, coach, and motivate underground teams to achieve production targets
- Conduct workplace inspections and proactively address hazards
- Ensure proper communication and reporting between shifts
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to optimize mining performance
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mining Engineering or a long-service miner who has progressed through all required ranks
- Must hold a valid Shift Boss Certificate issued by the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission – Ghana
- Minimum of 7 years’ underground mining experience, specifically in development operations
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in:
- Face management
- Ventilation systems and circuits
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent knowledge of underground mining safety standards and regulations
