Job Summary

The Chinese Cook will prepare authentic Chinese cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen safety. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong culinary expertise, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a professional kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes to high-quality standards.
• Plan and organize food preparation activities efficiently.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards within the kitchen environment.
• Source and manage ingredients while ensuring food freshness and quality.
• Utilize knowledge of local Ghanaian markets to identify suitable substitute ingredients when necessary.
• Monitor food inventory levels and support stock management activities.
• Follow recipe instructions and kitchen procedures accurately.
• Collaborate effectively with kitchen and support staff to ensure smooth operations.

Educational Requirements

• Formal culinary training or certification is an advantage but not mandatory.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 2–3 years of verifiable experience preparing Chinese cuisine in a restaurant, hotel, or expatriate household in Ghana.
• Strong knowledge of authentic Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients.
• Ability to read and understand basic recipe notes in English.
• Good understanding of local Ghanaian food markets and ingredient substitutes for Chinese cuisine.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and kitchen organization.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet meal preparation timelines.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
