Role Overview
PETROSOL Platinum Energy seeks a dynamic and results-driven Commercial Business Manager to lead business growth, strengthen client relationships, and drive commercial performance. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in expanding the company’s B2B portfolio, optimizing existing client relationships, and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead by example by modelling PETROSOL’s core values: Service, Empathy, Leadership, Professionalism, Integrity, and Sustainability.
- Inspire, coach, and develop team members to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
- Identify individual strengths and development needs and assign responsibilities strategically.
- Recognize performance, enforce discipline fairly, and build a culture of accountability.
- Exercise sound judgment in decision-making and operate within delegated authority.
- Build team capacity and ensure succession readiness.
Management of Existing Business
- Manage key client relationships to ensure exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Drive accurate demand forecasting and ensure timely order placement and supply reliability.
- Strengthen client relationships to maximize share of customer energy requirements.
- Enforce compliance with agreed commercial terms, including credit limits and payment timelines.
- Support client capacity building in fuel handling, inventory management, and HSSEQ standards.
- Deliver tailored, cost-effective energy solutions to support clients’ long-term growth.
- Oversee premix fuel supply to landing beach committees.
- Implement effective CRM systems to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.
- Develop strong after-sales support systems to proactively address customer needs.
Business Development
- Drive aggressive growth of the B2B portfolio by acquiring high-value clients across key sectors such as mining, shipping, telecom, manufacturing, and construction.
- Track competitor contracts and proactively position PETROSOL to win upcoming opportunities.
- Identify and respond to tender opportunities in a timely and competitive manner.
- Monitor industry trends to identify and engage credible new business prospects.
- Build relationships with business associations and regulatory bodies to unlock new opportunities.
- Represent PETROSOL at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Identify and pursue cross-border opportunities within the ECOWAS sub-region.
Contract Management
- Ensure all contracts accurately reflect agreed terms and protect company interests.
- Enforce compliance with contractual obligations.
- Proactively track contract timelines and initiate renewal or renegotiation processes at least six months before expiration.
Strategic & Analytical Functions
- Analyze market trends, demand drivers, and customer needs to inform strategic decisions.
- Evaluate key sectors (e.g., mining, shipping, aviation) to identify growth opportunities and risks.
- Develop and execute strategies aligned with short-, medium-, and long-term business goals.
- Monitor emerging energy trends, including green and alternative energy solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MA, MSc) or Chartered Marketing certification is an advantage.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in business development, sales, or commercial operations.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and driving business growth.
- Experience in B2B sales within the energy or petroleum sector is an added advantage.

- Strong commercial acumen with a customer-focused mindset.
- Solid understanding of pricing strategies, margin management, and value-based selling.
- Good knowledge of fuels, lubricants, LPG, premix, and related technical services is an advantage.

- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, sales systems, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
