Position Summary
Fruit Micro Credit is seeking a proactive and results-oriented Credit Officer to manage client acquisition, loan appraisal, portfolio management, and loan recovery activities. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and onboard qualified micro and small business clients in line with company policies and credit guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments, loan appraisals, credit evaluations, and field investigations.
- Mobilize, process, and facilitate loan disbursements while ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
- Manage loan recovery activities and maintain a Portfolio at Risk (PAR) of not more than 5%.
- Proactively follow up with delinquent and defaulting clients to secure timely repayments and minimize credit losses.
- Implement effective collection and recovery strategies in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on loan disbursements, arrears, recoveries, and portfolio performance.
- Deliver financial literacy and credit management education to clients.
- Promote digital repayment channels and encourage customers to adopt convenient payment solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to support portfolio growth and customer retention.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year proven experience in microfinance credit operations, with a strong focus on loan recovery and portfolio management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage delinquency and maintain portfolio quality targets.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and field collection skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver recovery targets.
- Experience in customer relationship management within a financial services environment is an advantage.
- Riding or driving experience is an added advantage.
