Your Responsibilities
As an Electrician – Drill, you will:
- Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on drilling equipment, including Sandvik Pantera Drills (DPI 1500) and associated support systems.
- Carry out inspections, diagnostics, and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance procedures to execute safe and accurate repairs.
- Identify and report equipment faults using correct technical terminology and maintenance documentation systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical components using appropriate tools, techniques, and industry best practices.
- Support planned maintenance activities in line with work management systems and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and support reporting through CMMS/ERP systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Promote and adhere to a strong safety culture in all maintenance activities.
What Will Make You Successful?
Formal Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Completion of electrical trade training or apprenticeship programme.
- MINCOM certification as an Inspection Engineer will be an added advantage.
Additional Knowledge
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical maintenance principles and industry standards.
- Hands-on experience maintaining Sandvik Pantera Drills (DPI 1500) and related support equipment.
- Working knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
- Familiarity with CMMS/ERP systems for maintenance tracking and reporting.
- Understanding of work management systems in industrial or mining environments.
Experience
- 1–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance of drilling equipment, preferably Sandvik Pantera drills and related systems.
Technical Skills
You will demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and effective interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and engineering documentation.
- Ability to diagnose equipment faults and accurately identify components using technical nomenclature.
- Competence in using electrical and mechanical tools for installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Commitment to maintaining quality standards in line with organizational and international best practices.
- Strong attention to detail in executing maintenance tasks and reporting outcomes.
