Position Summary
The Environmental Technician – Data Management will coordinate the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of environmental data to support regulatory compliance and environmental performance. The successful candidate will maintain environmental databases, perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities, prepare reports, and collaborate with operational teams to ensure accurate monitoring and effective environmental management.

Key Responsibilities
Environmental Data Management
- Collect, verify, and manage environmental monitoring data relating to water, air, soil, waste, biodiversity, and other environmental parameters in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate environmental databases, spreadsheets, Geographic Information System (GIS) records, and document control systems.
- Perform data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), including validation, reconciliation, and error checking of field and laboratory data.
- Analyze and interpret environmental data to support operational decision-making and compliance reporting.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, sustainability, and regulatory reports.
- Develop dashboards, trend analyses, and performance summaries to support environmental risk management.
Environmental Monitoring and Compliance
- Coordinate laboratory sample submissions and monitor analytical turnaround times.
- Track permit conditions, statutory requirements, and environmental performance indicators to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and records for inspections, certifications, and regulatory reviews.
- Support environmental incident investigations and monitor corrective action implementation.
- Conduct routine environmental inspections and collaborate with operational departments to ensure timely monitoring and reporting.
- Assist in monitoring water treatment facilities to ensure compliance with environmental and operational standards.
- Support waste management, spill response, cyanide management, hazardous chemical handling, erosion control, and sediment management programs.
- Participate in environmental monitoring activities including water quality, air quality, blast monitoring, noise monitoring, soil, waste management, and biodiversity assessments.
- Utilize environmental management systems, GIS applications, and Microsoft Office tools to capture, analyze, and present environmental information.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance environmental monitoring systems and reporting processes.
- Perform other environmental monitoring, compliance, and data management duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or related industries.
- A Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Certificate issued by the Minerals Commission of Ghana will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and manage environmental data.
- Sound knowledge of environmental permit conditions, statutory reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience conducting environmental audits and inspections.
- Experience supporting bioremediation and phytoremediation initiatives will be an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong research, analytical, and statistical evaluation skills.
- Possession of a valid Ghanaian driver’s licence.
