We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Head of Operations to lead the successful launch and growth of the Mugg & Bean brand in Ghana. This strategic leadership role offers the opportunity to build operations from the ground up, establish a high-performing team, and drive sustainable business growth while ensuring full compliance with international brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Launch & Business Development

As the Head of Operations, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end launch of the Mugg & Bean brand in Ghana, from pre-opening planning through to stable commercial operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Mugg & Bean brand standards, operating procedures, and customer experience requirements.
  • Partner closely with brand principals to ensure successful execution of launch activities and future expansion initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a phased growth strategy and regional expansion roadmap, subject to Board approval and brand alignment.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen market presence while maintaining brand integrity and operational excellence.

Operational Leadership

You will:

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing leadership team across Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and other support functions.
  • Establish robust operating frameworks, governance structures, reporting processes, and performance management systems.
  • Provide strategic input into site selection, restaurant development, fit-out, and operational readiness.
  • Drive operational excellence across all locations by ensuring consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality assurance requirements, health regulations, and all applicable legal obligations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational efficiency.

Financial & Commercial Management

You will:

  • Assume full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the Ghana business, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
  • Analyse financial and operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Optimise costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance EBITDA performance.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and procurement strategies in line with brand standards and commercial objectives.

Stakeholder Management

You will:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Masco Foods, Mugg & Bean brand principals, licensors, and strategic business partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Leadership, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Property Development, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the business at executive leadership meetings, Board engagements, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory authorities, landlords, suppliers, and external partners to support business success.

Regional Expansion

You will:

  • Support the execution of regional growth initiatives across Ghana and neighbouring markets.
  • Travel extensively as required to oversee new store development, operational performance, and expansion activities.
  • Ensure new locations are launched successfully while maintaining consistent operational standards and brand excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • An MBA or master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field will be highly desirable.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of progressive leadership experience within the hospitality, restaurant, or food service industry.
  • Proven senior leadership experience within the Mugg & Bean brand environment is essential.
  • Experience gained through authorised and ethical channels, with no contractual, legal, or restraint-related conflicts.
  • Demonstrated success in launching, managing, or scaling casual dining, premium café, or franchise restaurant brands.
  • Extensive experience managing multi-unit operations with full commercial and operational accountability.

  • Strong commercial acumen with extensive experience managing profit and loss performance.

  • Excellent financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex operational challenges.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to brand stewardship.
  • Experience operating in emerging or high-growth markets will be an advantage.
