Position Summary
The Head of Para-Clinical Sciences will provide strategic academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Para-Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate will drive academic excellence, support faculty and student development, promote research initiatives, and ensure the effective delivery of teaching and learning activities across the department.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Para-Clinical Sciences.
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of departmental academic programmes and activities.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students.
- Supervise, mentor, and support undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic and research pursuits.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and research within the department.
- Support faculty development and foster collaboration among academic staff.
- Fulfil all responsibilities and obligations associated with the role of an Academic Senior Member.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and continuous improvement initiatives of the University.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Dean or Vice-Chancellor.
Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A PhD or terminal degree from a recognized institution in any of the following disciplines:
- Medical Microbiology
- Pathology
- Chemical Pathology
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Pharmacology
- Hematology
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum academic rank of Senior Lecturer at a recognized tertiary institution.
- Demonstrate a strong record of teaching, research, and academic leadership.
- Possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Show the ability to manage academic programmes, faculty development, and departmental administration effectively.
- Have previous experience in a similar leadership role, which will be considered an added advantage.
