Job Description

Summary:
The Litigation Manager plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s legal and business interests by providing strategic legal leadership across litigation and dispute resolution. Reporting to the Director, Legal, this position is based at the Accra Headquarters and is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s legal disputes, from risk identification to court representation. The successful candidate will lead a team of legal professionals, oversee external counsel, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. With a strong focus on commercial outcomes, the role drives efficient debt recovery, enhances legal governance, and supports business continuity through proactive legal strategy and effective stakeholder coordination.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-level legal analysis and strategic guidance on litigation and dispute resolution matters to support timely and informed decision-making.
  • Proactively identify potential litigation risks and develop actionable strategies to mitigate legal exposure across business units.
  • Lead the preparation, negotiation, and filing of legal pleadings and documents, and represent the company in court and alternative dispute resolution forums.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external legal counsel, ensuring performance accountability, case alignment, and effective management of legal engagements.
  • Drive the company’s debt recovery initiatives by optimizing processes, ensuring legal compliance, and improving recovery efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to gather evidence, resolve disputes, and maintain business operations.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and leadership to the litigation team, promoting knowledge development, succession planning, and team growth.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive litigation reports and case updates to senior management and group legal teams, highlighting key risks, outcomes, and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to legal governance frameworks, reporting protocols, and regulatory requirements across all litigation activities.
Requirements:
  • Member of the Ghana Bar Association with a minimum of 10 years of post-call litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Ghanaian law and court procedures, with a strong record in litigation and advocacy.
  • Proven leadership experience managing legal teams and delivering results in complex environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on practical, business-oriented outcomes.
  • Commercial mindset with a commitment to aligning legal strategy with organizational objectives.
