Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Mechanic to support the maintenance and reliability of mechanical and electrical systems within our operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting plant operations through proactive maintenance and timely repairs.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, fans, compressors, valves, piping systems, gearboxes, heat exchanges, and cooling systems.
  • Carry out predictive maintenance activities such as vibration monitoring support, alignment checks, lubrication, thermography assistance, and condition inspections.
  • Inspect equipment for leaks, wear, corrosion, overheating, abnormal noise, and other mechanical issues.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs on both rotating and stationary equipment.
  • Dismantle, repair, overhaul, and reassemble mechanical systems including pumps, blowers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and mechanical seals.
  • Replace worn or damaged components such as bearings, shafts, couplings, gaskets, O-rings, seals, and fasteners.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns, turbine overhauls, boiler maintenance, and auxiliary system rebuilds.
  • Assist in the installation, testing, commissioning, and alignment of new mechanical equipment.
  • Support piping fabrication, flange assembly, leak testing, and valve maintenance activities.
  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and equipment abnormalities promptly.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, welding teams, and operations staff to resolve mechanical issues.

Job Requirements

  • Intermediate Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related qualification.

Core Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in equipment dismantling, repair, and reassembly.
  • Sound knowledge of rotating equipment, piping systems, valves, lubrication systems, and pump/fan configurations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and engineering diagrams.
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices, particularly within power plant environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially during plant outages and emergency situations.
