The Opportunity

AngloGold Ashanti Limited is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager: Geology to lead the mine’s geology function. The role is responsible for designing, defining, and managing robust systems of work that reliably deliver the expected ore grade and tonnage from mine to mill. By integrating technical studies, production geology programs, and analysis with business objectives, the Manager: Geology ensures alignment between mine planning, mining production, and processing operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Establish and implement effective Production Geology processes and practices.

• Oversee ore accounting and production reconciliation, including the development of efficient Grade Control processes.

• Collaborate with Mining and Processing teams to develop ore blending plans.

• Develop, communicate, and deliver a rolling 18-month plan, broken down by quarter, to ensure required Production Geology outputs are met.

• Control ore feed to meet operational requirements and maintain optimal ore quality.

• Ensure Production Geology techniques and tools are applied to the highest standards.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing geology team, including senior geologists and technical specialists.

• Drive succession planning and strengthen technical capability within the team.

• Foster a culture aligned with AGA values.

• Develop and deliver the annual Production Geology cost centre budget to meet short, medium, and long-term business objectives.

• Ensure all Mine Geology activities comply with company policies, standards, regulations, laws, and local cultural norms.

Qualification & Experience

• MSc or BSc (Hons) in Geology or Earth Sciences.

• Ability to obtain Minerals Commission competency certificate.

• Valid Driver’s License required.

• Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in mining geology and exploration.

• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

• Proven experience in geological risk analysis and strategic decision-making.

• Strong financial and commercial acumen.

• Ability to make effective decisions under uncertainty.

• Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.

• Strong strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
