Role Overview

The Mechanical Draughtsman will support the design, coordination, and execution of capital projects by producing accurate engineering drawings and ensuring compliance with company standards. This role requires a technically skilled professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support governance and technical due diligence activities to ensure compliance with company standards across capital projects
• Coordinate and manage consultants providing structural, mechanical, and piping design services
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, documentation, and deliverables aligned with project milestones
• Implement and monitor design control processes from concept through to as-built documentation
• Maintain design registers and ensure proper documentation of design reviews
• Apply company drawing standards, including configuration and numbering systems
• Evaluate structural, mechanical, and piping designs and recommend improvements where necessary
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and general arrangements
• Ensure installations meet quality, functionality, and professional presentation standards
• Support adherence to corporate governance, including legal, financial, and commercial requirements
• Identify and report compliance issues and support investigations where required
• Promote ethical standards and support team awareness on compliance-related matters
• Ensure project delivery meets environmental, community, and regulatory obligations
• Prepare project reports, schedules, and technical documentation
• Support project planning and execution in alignment with organizational strategy
• Provide leadership and coordination to project teams to ensure timely delivery of objectives

Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
• MINCOM certification (Sectional Engineer – 1063) is required

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design and construction environments
• Proven experience working on capital projects exceeding USD 10 million
• Demonstrated experience in engineering design processes and construction protocols

Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of engineering design, construction management, and project execution
• Basic knowledge of Agile project management principles
• Ability to review payment certificates and manage project costs effectively
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Sound decision-making ability with attention to detail

• Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams
