Medicine Counter Assistant (Full-Time)

About the Role

A reputable pharmacy in Accra is seeking a responsible, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Medicine Counter Assistant to join its team. The successful candidate will support the safe and efficient dispensing of medicines, provide basic guidance to customers, and ensure excellent service at the pharmacy counter.

In this role, you will work closely with pharmacists and healthcare staff to support smooth pharmacy operations and promote safe medication use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers at the pharmacy counter in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Support the dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medicines under supervision.
  • Provide basic information on medication use as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales, prescriptions, and stock movement.
  • Ensure proper storage and arrangement of medicines on shelves.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or expired products.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness at the pharmacy counter and dispensing area.
  • Follow all pharmacy protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support inventory checks and stock reconciliation processes.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Certificate in Medicine Counter Assistant Training from a recognized institution (an added advantage).
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Council as a licensed Medicine Counter Assistant.
  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy or hospital setting is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow professional instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dispensing procedures.
  • A responsible, ethical, and patient-focused attitude.
