Role Purpose

The Mobile Crane Rigger executes safe and efficient rigging operations to support lifting activities across the site. The role ensures strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards while contributing to reliable and cost-effective maintenance and production processes.


Key Role Accountabilities

Safety

  • Apply total quality management principles to achieve zero defects and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards with zero tolerance for non-compliance.
  • Demonstrate safety behaviors aligned with company values and proactively improve safety performance.
  • Take personal responsibility for own safety and the safety of others impacted by work activities.

Environment

  • Follow the site Environmental Management Plan and all environmental regulations.
  • Prevent environmental pollution through responsible work practices.
  • Identify, report, and correct environmental deviations, recommending improvements where necessary.
  • Comply with incident reporting procedures and environmental standards.

Work Execution

  • Perform rigging activities in accordance with Ghanaian regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of rigging equipment.
  • Assess and select appropriate rigging gear for lifting and securing loads.
  • Identify and escalate equipment defects or shortages promptly.
  • Support maintenance processes by providing accurate information for closing SAP work orders.

People & Development

  • Participate actively in training, development, and performance improvement programs.

Cost & Efficiency

  • Execute tasks in a cost-effective manner while minimizing waste of resources.

Time Management

  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently within required timelines.

Risk Management

  • Operate strictly within safe working limits.
  • Identify potential risks and take proactive measures to prevent failures or incidents.

Reporting & Authority

  • Report all issues and anomalies directly to the Supervisor.
  • Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions arise and escalate appropriately.

Maintenance Systems & Compliance

  • Follow maintenance management systems and standard operating procedures.
  • Execute tasks in line with approved lifting plans, procedures, and standards.
  • Complete and sign off all required documentation accurately.
  • Comply with all applicable legal, safety, and environmental regulations.

Communication & Meetings

  • Attend daily safety briefings and other scheduled meetings.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in performance reviews and audits.
  • Ensure proper inspection and testing before completing tasks.
  • Adhere to change management processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Professional Qualification

  • Secondary or Technical education.
  • Minimum Certificate in Rigging Operations.
  • National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Grade 1 certification.
  • Valid MINCOM certification as a Rigger.
  • Valid driving or equipment operating license.
  • Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ hands-on experience in rigging operations.
  • Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of LI 2182 compliance requirements.

Knowledge & Skills

Technical Competencies

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical operations and rigging principles.
  • Knowledge of safe crane operation and lifting procedures.
