Role Purpose

The Officer – Community Development supports the planning and delivery of community engagement and development initiatives that strengthen relationships with host communities and contribute to sustainable social impact. The role ensures effective coordination of projects, stakeholder engagement, and accurate reporting of outcomes.


Key Role Accountabilities

  • Engage actively with local communities and stakeholders to build strong, trust-based relationships.
  • Support the planning and execution of community development projects, programs, and events.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate project data, preparing reports as required.
  • Provide administrative support, including documentation, correspondence, and data management.
  • Liaise with community members, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies to facilitate project implementation.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating capacity-building initiatives for community groups.
  • Monitor project activities and prepare timely reports on progress, impact, and outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Professional Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • 1–3 years’ experience in community development, external relations, or a related role, preferably within the mining, extractive, corporate, or non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of community engagement practices and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Good knowledge of local culture and community dynamics within the operational area.
  • Fluency in Akan dialects (Wassa, Fante, and/or Twi) is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage conflict and mobilize community participation effectively.
  • Valid Ghanaian driver’s license with the ability to operate a light vehicle.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and data management.
