Music Teacher

Location: Tema – Golf City, Ghana
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Purpose

The Music Teacher will deliver engaging and high-quality music instruction that develops students’ musical knowledge, creativity, and performance skills. The successful candidate will lead instrumental and ensemble programmes, support school performances, and cultivate an enriching learning environment that encourages artistic expression and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that meet the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Teach music theory, practical musicianship, and instrumental performance across assigned grade levels.
  • Conduct and lead the school’s orchestra, ensuring high standards of musical performance and teamwork.
  • Teach and provide instruction in a range of musical instruments appropriate to students’ abilities and programme requirements.
  • Prepare students for concerts, recitals, assemblies, competitions, and other school performances.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity, discipline, and confidence.
  • Maintain musical instruments, equipment, and teaching resources to ensure they remain in good condition.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to promote music and performing arts programmes across the Academy.
  • Participate actively in school activities, meetings, professional development programmes, and other co-curricular events.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues while upholding the Christian values and mission of the Academy.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with a major in Music or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Previous teaching experience in a school environment will be an advantage.
  • Experience directing or conducting an orchestra or musical ensemble is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach one or more musical instruments effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and instrumental instruction.
  • Ability to conduct and manage an orchestra or school ensemble.
  • Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for developing young musical talent and fostering creativity.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and educational excellence.
  • A strong appreciation for Christian values and the ability to support the mission and ethos of the Academy.
