Our Graduate Training Programme is designed to equip National Service Personnel with the technical knowledge, operational experience, and professional competencies required to build successful careers in underground mining.

We invite applications from eligible graduates for the 2026–2027 National Service Graduate Training Programme – Mining Engineering.

Programme Overview

The Graduate Training Programme offers a structured 12-month National Service experience that combines practical field exposure, technical development, and professional mentoring. Participants will work alongside experienced mining engineers and contribute to underground mining operations while developing essential technical and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

National Service Mining Engineers will:

• Assist in planning and executing underground mine development and production activities.
• Support the preparation of short-term and long-term mine plans.
• Assist with underground mine design, drilling, and blasting activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret mining and production data for operational reporting.
• Monitor daily production activities and report operational challenges and improvement opportunities.
• Participate in underground inspections to ensure compliance with mining standards, operational procedures, and company requirements.
• Support ventilation, ground support, and mine safety monitoring activities.
• Participate in production meetings and contribute to operational planning and decision-making.
• Assist in monitoring equipment utilization, productivity, and operational performance.
• Support surveying and geological teams during underground mining activities where required.
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures.
• Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and operational performance.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Mining Engineer or Mine Management.

Candidate Profile

• Commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Adaptability and willingness to work across different operational areas.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic mining environment.
• Strong analytical thinking, creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
• A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of internship or industrial attachment experience.
• A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous professional learning.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

• Be Ghanaian final-year students completing their studies in 2026 and eligible for the 2026–2027 National Service Programme.
• Hold or be completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mining Engineering.
• Applicants from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) are especially encouraged to apply, reflecting UMAA’s long-standing academic partnership with the institution.
• Applicants from the Obuasi catchment communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Female applicants are highly encouraged to apply as part of UMAA’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the mining industry.
