Role Summary
The Performing Arts Teacher will design and deliver engaging performing arts lessons that encourage creativity, self-expression, collaboration, and confidence. The successful candidate will create an inclusive learning environment where students develop practical performance skills, artistic appreciation, and a lifelong passion for the performing arts.
Key Responsibilities
As the Performing Arts Teacher, you will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging performing arts lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach drama, theatre, movement, performance techniques, and other performing arts disciplines appropriate to students’ age and ability.
- Foster creativity, confidence, teamwork, and effective communication through practical learning experiences.
- Encourage students to develop performance, presentation, and creative expression skills.
- Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Organize and direct school productions, performances, assemblies, concerts, and other performing arts events.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes active participation.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into performing arts instruction where appropriate.
- Maintain effective classroom management and encourage positive student behaviour.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support students’ academic, creative, and personal development.
- Participate actively in school events, staff meetings, professional development programmes, and school improvement initiatives.
- Uphold and model the school’s Christian values in all interactions with students and the wider school community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Performing Arts, Drama, Theatre Arts, Dance, Music, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or professional teaching licence.
Experience
- Previous teaching experience in a primary or secondary school environment is preferred.
- Experience delivering the American, International, or International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an advantage.
- Experience directing school productions, theatre performances, or extracurricular performing arts programmes is highly desirable.
