Role Overview

The Sector Manager will lead and oversee cocoa sourcing operations within the assigned sector, ensuring compliance with company policies, operational efficiency, and delivery of high-quality cocoa. This role requires strong leadership, financial oversight, and stakeholder management to drive performance across district teams and maintain integrity within the cocoa supply chain.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage sector field staff, ensuring high performance through coaching, training, and discipline where necessary.
  • Oversee the disbursement of seed funds to District Purchase Clerks (P/Cs) strictly for stock delivered to depots, in line with company policy.
  • Ensure all allocated funds are used exclusively for cocoa purchasing activities.
  • Maintain availability of adequate tools of trade at all buying centers.
  • Enforce strict compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and complete record-keeping of all seed fund transactions, supported by equivalent stock receipts.
  • Guarantee the purchase of high-quality cocoa in line with QCC standards, including proper storage, grading, sealing, and timely evacuation to port.
  • Ensure timely payment of P/C commissions and submission of supporting vouchers to Head Office.
  • Conduct weekly reconciliation of cocoa purchases and evacuations across districts.
  • Oversee proper maintenance of accounting records for all societies, including waybills, monitors, and ledgers.
  • Ensure timely submission of signed weekly, daily (SMS), and end-of-season reports to Head Office.
  • Validate and approve seed fund requests submitted by District Managers.
  • Ensure timely payment and submission of farmers’ bonuses and commission documentation.
  • Hold regular engagement meetings with district teams to provide guidance, share updates, and support operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with the company’s Monitoring Team to ensure accuracy and credibility of operational records and reporting.
  • Take accountability for cocoa losses within the assigned sector and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Submit floating fund expenses with complete documentation, including trip records and operational sheets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational performance and strengthen the company’s reputation.
  • Report all misconduct promptly to Head Office.
  • Drive results across all functions through strong teamwork and collaboration.

About You

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, Trade, Management, or a related field.
  • Bring a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial or operational role, preferably within the cocoa or agricultural sector.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the cocoa market, including supply chain dynamics and profitability drivers.
  • Possess solid financial management skills and a clear understanding of cost control and value creation.
  • Stay informed on sustainability trends and regulatory requirements within the cocoa industry.
  • Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure accuracy in data and consistency in KPI reporting.
  • Exhibit excellent leadership, problem-solving, and conflict management capabilities.
  • Communicate fluently in English and at least one local language spoken within Ghana’s cocoa-growing regions.
  • Show proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 85%) within the assigned territory.
  • Display a strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members for future leadership roles.
