Position Overview

AngloGold Ashanti Limited seeks a highly experienced Senior Specialist – Scheduling to lead and optimize underground mine scheduling processes. The role focuses on developing practical, executable short- to medium-term mine schedules, aligning cross-functional inputs, and ensuring efficient and safe mining operations.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, strengthen planning systems, and support operational teams with high-quality scheduling solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of short- to medium-term underground mine schedules
• Ensure schedules align with production targets, operational constraints, and safety standards
• Coordinate planning inputs across geology, engineering, and operations teams
• Monitor schedule performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency
• Drive continuous improvement in scheduling systems, tools, and methodologies
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to planning and scheduling teams
• Ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and delivered within required timelines
• Facilitate effective communication between planning and operational teams
• Support decision-making through data-driven analysis and reporting

Educational Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
• Advanced training in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik) is desirable
• Recognized First Aid Certificate is an advantage
• MINCOM Shift Boss or higher Certificate of Competency is desirable but not mandatory
• Membership of a recognized professional body is an added advantage

Experience

• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in underground mine scheduling and planning
• At least five (5) years in a senior supervisory or leadership role
• Demonstrated expertise in short- to medium-term scheduling processes
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods and operational practices
• Experience coordinating inputs from multiple technical disciplines
• Proven ability to develop and deliver executable schedules within strict timelines
• Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing team members

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of short-term mine planning systems and scheduling practices
• Proficiency in mine planning and scheduling software tools
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, safety-critical environments
