Position Overview
The Vice-Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the University and provides overall academic, administrative, and financial leadership. The successful candidate will champion excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement while strengthening the University’s national and international standing.
The Vice-Chancellor will lead the implementation of the University’s strategic goals, promote effective governance, mobilize resources, and foster partnerships with industry, government, alumni, and global institutions.
Key Responsibilities
The Vice-Chancellor will:

Provide visionary and strategic leadership for the University.
-
Manage the academic, administrative, and financial affairs of the institution.
-
Promote excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.
-
Strengthen relationships between the University and industry for mutual growth and development.
-
Foster positive internal and external stakeholder relations.
-
Enhance the University’s national and international reputation.
-
Mobilize financial and material resources to support institutional growth.
-
Promote good governance, integrity, and accountability across all levels of the University.
Educational and Professional Requirements
The Vice-Chancellor must:
-
Be a Professor who is an internationally acclaimed scholar.
-
Demonstrate stature, integrity, and exemplary leadership skills.
-
Possess the capacity to marshal resources required to advance the University’s mission and vision.

Be eligible to serve a full four (4) year term before attaining the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60).
The candidate must also demonstrate:

Proven capacity to manage a university or comparable institution.

Visionary and business-oriented leadership with the ability to build strong industry–university partnerships.

Ability to foster and promote strong internal and external relations.

Capacity to effectively project and enhance the University’s image locally and internationally.

A strong record of innovation and transformative leadership in higher education.
Tenure of Office
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of four (4) years. The appointment may be renewed for a further term of up to three (3) years, provided the tenure does not extend beyond the statutory retirement age of sixty (60).
